Isaac's Birthday party!

Isaac had a fun, sports-themed birthday party!
The cupcake idea was great for serving young kids, because they were fun and easy to eat!
Isaac's friends enjoyed gathering around really close to watch him open gifts. They all wanted to give him the gift from themselves next, and could hardly wait to see what was inside each bag or box! Isaac is having lots of fun with his new toys and wearing his new clothes, so let me just say another big thank you to everyone! :-) Thank you for taking the time to come to his party, too --it was fun having you there to celebrate with us!
Look who's TWO!!! Big birthday boy, Isaac!
We played fun game I call "stick the medal on the champion"! It is basically a sports version of pin the tale on the donkey! There were these little sunglasses that were solid that the kids used as a blind fold, and then tried to stick the medal on the right spot on the champion athlete! It was tons of fun!
Overall, I'd say the little birthday boy really enjoyed his party! We had a great time too! Happy Birthday, Isaac!!

Happy Birthday ~ Isaac's big 2!

Isaac's birthday party was a few days after the day of his birthday, so he got to celebrate the day of his birth by opening gifts and cards that came in the mail from family. The cute star box is from Aunt Heather, Uncle Justin and Brady & Ruthanne! He really had fun ripping off the paper and breaking into the box!
It's a Mr. Potato head!! Yay!

Next, he tore into a Magna-Doodle sketch board from GiGi and Pappy! This is one of his favorite new toys! He and all his friends really love to play with it!
A special box came from Uncle Daniel, Aunt Alessandra, and Alessarah!
He really loved watching Daddy open the box.
He watched with excitement as Daddy opened this birthday gift.

Let's check it out! It's a wooden dump truck with moving parts, and the horn beeps. Oh, and the head lights shine, too! Oma and Pop Pop sent a fun birthday package to Isaac, too, but I didn't remember to take photos of him opening those gifts! Isaac got to open that package in front of Oma and Pop Pop who were watching him on Skype! :-) He got several cards from family, too, and a magazine subscription from our cousins! He has really enjoyed everything, so here's another big thank you to each of you! :-)

Cabbage Harvest

During each year, we plant a garden in our backyard two times. The cooler weather crops this year included cabbage! Since we cut our huge oak tree down last year, we didn't have nearly as many worms in the garden, which was wonderful! The cabbages did really great and we didn't even have to put anything on them to get rid of worms. I did notice one or two worms on the bottom area of a couple of the cabbages I harvested, but that was it! Yay!
We had a total of seven heads of cabbage this year. These are the last four that are left. We have been making fresh coleslaw and cabbage with pasta and carrots (a great recipe I got from the Micheff Sister's cookbook, ask if you want it! We even gave our neighbors some cabbage, too!

Feeding the birds

The other day, we took Isaac to feed the ducks over at a nearby park. Last time we took him here, he was a little bit to small to understand what was going on, but this time he was an eager participant!
The seagulls are always quick to form swarms and dive towards any food that flies from our hands. They even try to steal it from the ducks who are out on the water. They are very aggressive! Isaac was excited to see and hear them as they squawked and darted around.

Isaac fed some pigeons. We don't remember ever seeing pigeons at this park, at least not big groups of them wanting to be fed. These pigeons only hung around for a little while.
Jason and the seagull . . . perfect timing! I LOVE this photo!! It was really cool watching the seagulls swooping down closer and closer, until this one little guy got brave enough to rip the bread right out of Jason's hand.

At one point, we looked up and saw a huge flock of these white ibis. They must have been on a migration path. They settled down in a field on the other side of the park. After we finished feeding the ducks, we decided to go try to get a closer look at the ibis.

After we photographed the ibis flock, Isaac tested out the playground equipment. He really loves tunnels!

Geaux Saints!

We were out doing some yard work and Isaac got to see a green anole climbing on the wall of our house. This green anole lives behind our hose keeper, and often comes out to say hello when we unwind or wind up the hose.

Isaac got a saints shirt for Christmas! Jason LOVES the Saints and so our whole family, even little man Isaac is a big fan!

He was having lots of fun playing behind the shrubs in front of our house while Daddy was mowing the lawn.
