Mustang Island with D 'n A

We took a day trip to Rockport-Fulton and Mustang Island near Corpus Christi, Texas! It was a gorgeous day for a picnic on the water.

These picnic tables are our favorite spot to eat lunch when we come to Rockport-Fulton for a visit! This is also the spot where I saw dolphins in the wild for the first time in my life! VERY EXCITING!
Mustang Island had some pretty good waves for body boarding! We all had a fun time trying to catch the waves and ride in on the white water!

In this photo I am between 13-14 weeks pregnant! This is when I started the 2nd trimester!

Jason was kind of teasing the seagulls, because I don't think he had any food , but they were swooping down to check his outstretched hand...

Visit with D 'n A

My brother, Daniel and his wife, Alessandra came to visit at the middle of July! We took them to Nasa to see the sights! It was lots of fun!

During the tour of Nasa, you get to see some really huge rockets in "Rocket Park"! That is almost my favorite part of the tour. I think my favorite part is the historic command center where they received that first amazing message "The Eagle Has Landed"--meaning we were on the moon...of course!

Daniel and Alessandra posing with the Saturn V--the most HUMOUNGOUS rocket on display!

Daniel enjoyed using his fresh blueberries to make a smiley face in his bowl of oatmeal! He's going to be a great Dad! I'm sure he'll keep everyone in the family laughing and laid back!
Nutria....We have never seen these little creatures (disgustingly related to rats, but oh, so cute)before at this park where we frequently go to feed the ducks and geese and swan. They wanted some bread crumbs too!!

The beautiful black swan did not seem to like the Nutria! "Hey you nasty thing, get away from me!!!!"
Daniel and Alessandra had lots of fun feeding the birds! The birds were very hungry, too!

Garden ~ Summer 2009

We grow a garden twice each year, and this time we got a little late start on the Summer Garden since we were busy with building our fence and school and other "stuff" on the weekends! Needless to say, when you start late, you have to wait longer to get produce! Plus, it gets really hot and then stuff doesn't grow as fast or healthy. My family in Kentucky had harvested vegetables before our plants were even producing blooms! On the left is a flower patch! Next to it is Cucumbers, then Okra. In front of that section is Onions, Carrots, Zuchinni, Yellow Squash, Collard Greens (coming up volunteer). Then finally, we have Tomatoes, Strawberries, Basil, Rosemary, Spearmint, and more flowers.

Basil and Rosemary and Spearmint...Basil is the healthiest, the others are only small sprigs right now...
Zuchinni! If it does as well as it did last year, we'll have 30 or so coming off this plant!

Yellow Squash! They are doing really well, and have produced our first vegetables of the season! YUMMY!
The carrots! We didn't have very good success with carrots last year, so we hope they will grow big and long this time around!
Cucumbers! They always do good! They love to climb and vine on these circular cages.
Okra...we've not grown Okra before, but everyone who I have heard of growing it has had so much Okra that they didn't know what to do with it all!!! I hope we have that problem, because we both REALLY like it!!
These onions are actually left from our Fall garden. They are finally getting big enough for us to harvest them.
We planted these cherry tomatoes from seed! They are doing really well, considering they came up from a tiny, tiny seed!

Beautiful Butterflies

We took our family to the Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science during their 4th of July visit.

Grampy, Brady, and Uncle Jason walking to the museum!

Jason's Mom--Gigi to Brady--was a Butterfly magnet! She almost immediately had 3-4 butterflies landing on her shirt, bag, and arm!

Brady with his Mom and Dad --Jason's brother!

Here is a catepillar that will turn into one of those glorious, huge black and irredescent green butterflies!

Gardening with a Two-Year-Old

Jason and his Mom and our nephew Brady had fun digging around in our new flowerbed on the left side of our back yard!

He got a little dirty out there, which was really cute! His Mom and Dad whisked him off to the bath tub immediately after his fun in the garden dirt!
