Playing in the yard

Isaac gets really excited when he knows we will be going outside. His first clue is usually when I put his shoes on. I think he also notices if I have my shoes on, then he gets excited and sometimes a little frustrated because he is worried I might go outside without him.
Basketball. Like father, like son! I think Jason and Isaac will spend many, many hours playing basketball together as he gets bigger!
Isaac enjoys walking around our back yard! He enjoys walking around the front yard, too, but we have to watch him really, really closely out there because he has no fear of the street.

This afternoon I was out planting poppies! Isaac enjoyed opening and closing the gate.
When he learned how the faucet works, he wanted to turn it on and off. He couldn't get this one to turn, but the one in the back is looser and he has been able to "help me" with watering the garden by turning the hose on and off.

This gate provides several minutes of fun for Isaac! He likes to close it all the way, then open it all the way! Isaac and doors . . . he loves them!

Feeding the Fowl

We took Isaac over to our favorite fowl feeding pond the other day. He stayed in Daddy's lap most of the time. He didn't seem interested in feeding them himself, but did laugh and smile at the geese, ducks, and sea gulls.
There were probably about ten different types of water fowl hanging around! Oh, and there were three or four nutria rats! They were cute, yet a little gross, too! I really dislike rats, and they remind me of them a little. However, they also look a little like beavers or otters, so that makes them cute!

Harvest from our garden

We enjoyed turnips and mustard greens from our garden this week! Down here we are able to grow a garden twice a year. We got started kind of late with the "Fall garden", so we are just now harvesting a few things. The turnips are quite small, but they taste wonderful! The greens did great, and have a really good, fresh flavor! Hopefully we can pick one more batch of greens before tilling everything up for the next gardening season.

Isaac is walking!

On Isaac's first birthday, he started walking more than he ever has! It was like a switch clicked and he had desire to walk! He had been "cruising", or walking along objects while holding on. He had also been using his walker toy that he got for Christmas to walk all over the house!! Now he is actually walking between objects and rooms without holding onto anything. He still stumbles sometimes, but that is typical during this stage. Even elementary school kids fall down when they are playing sports!! ha ha!! :-) Anyway, he is going farther and farther each time he tries to walk now, and it is really exciting to watch him! I'm sure in a few more weeks he will be running all around with less and less tumbles! Yikes! It will be fun to watch him gain more confidence, balance, and speed!

Super Bowl fun!

I made homemade pizza for our Super Bowl party! I made two, and the first one was plain cheese with about 1/3 sprinkled with black olives. This one (in photo) was black olive and artichoke hearts! I made one crust in my bread machine --AWESOME!! The other I made from scratch in a bowl...awesome, too, just not as easy! ;-D
Our friends Brian and Jackie! Glad you all could come watch the game with us!
Jason with a few of our friends on Super Bowl Sunday!! The kids enjoyed playing with Isaac's toys!
Isaac decided the game was boring and throwing UNO cards around would be much more fun! He knows where they are, too! He goes right to that cabinet and finds them frequently.

Isaac's walking toy!

Here is a little video of Isaac walking around the house with his walking toy that he got for Christmas. He used to need help with steering it, but now he doesn't let corners or objects stop him, he just moves around them!

Hanging out with Daddy

Isaac is in constant motion most of the time these days! He goes from one end of the house to the other in a matter of seconds! He opens doors easily and really likes to go into our master bedroom bathroom and look out the window. He immediately looks up to see if he can watch some birds, planes, or helicopters flying by! He also tries to get out into the garage through the door in the kitchen.
Daddy and Isaac watching basketball together! Go Wild Cats --that's what Mommy says, because I'm from Kentucky! :-)

Fun times with Daddy at the park! Isaac LOVES to swing! He laughs and giggles! His little legs kick from all the excitement of riding on the swings! I think he likes the way it feels when the wind blows through his hair!
