Giddy Up!

Isaac got a rocking horse for his birthday! This past week it has been his favorite thing! He tries to throw his leg over the back of it, but sometimes lifts up the wrong leg --which is soo cute! The horse makes noises and sings a little song. He giggles and likes to press the buttons, which are in the horse's ears.

Isaac is 14 months old!

Busy boy Isaac is 14 months old!
He loves to come over to the back window in the living room and look outside. He watches the birds and squirrels eating from our bird feeder. He also loves to watch airplanes and helicopters flying over.
Here is the binoculars, Mommy! I've tried to let him look through them, but he doesn't do it yet.
Isaac has two teeth on the bottom and two teeth on the top now! He loves to bite things. He bites crackers, fruit, waffles, and bread.
Here's a picture of Isaac eating a waffle at breakfast time! He loves Mommy's home-made, multi-grain waffles!

I had to slip this photo in here some where! Isaac got an "ouchy" on his nose! About 2-3 weeks ago, Isaac and me were returning from getting the mail, and he stumbled in the drive way. He usually catches himself with his hands and doesn't end up with any injury. At this point, he was kind of tired and it was getting a little bit dark, so I think those two factors caused him to slip when he caught himself. Plus, he was on a slanted spot in the driveway. He just barely scraped his little nose on the pavement, but it was enough to cause him to bleed a little. He didn't really cry, except for a couple of seconds, and he wanted to keep walking around and playing, but blood was dripping from the tip of his nose, so I had to take him inside to wash it and put a band-aid on it. He doesn't like his nose to be touched or wiped, so I couldn't stop the bleeding by holding a tissue on it, so when Jason got home from work he saw Isaac with a band-aid over the bridge of his nose. It really looked bad for about a week, then the scab fell off and it was pink under neath. Now it looks almost back to normal. Long story... But I know someone is bound to see some of the photos where his nose looks banged up and ask ..."what happened?!" So, now you know! He is so independent sometimes and doesn't want me to hold his hand when he's walking outside. I guess they learn by falling--he hasn't fallen again, since!! I do have to hold his hand when he's in the driveway or he'll run down it into the road! I'm trying to teach him that he can play in the driveway but "STOP!" when you get to the end of it!! He seems to understand a little bit. Hopefully he will be quick to learn that he must watch carefully for cars!
Isaac decided to play with the couch throw pillows! He started out with them on top of him and then wrestled with them!
He thought it was great fun!

Garden updates

During the month of March, we have spent several weekends working on getting our garden planted and other flowers growing around our house! In the very center of this photo, you can see our first tomato forming!
This is a zucchini plant that is starting to grow!
We planted about twenty tomato plants this year! We are looking forward to having some really yummy sandwiches and salads! We also planted zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, sugar snap peas, cauliflower, and basil. We already had cilantro, spearmint, rosemary, and asparagus growing from previous years.

This area has been planted with flowers that attract butterflies!
I LOVE poppies! After roses, I think they are my favorite flower!

One day when I was working out in the yard, Isaac and I took a break to say "Hi" to our neighbor. This is the neighbor's dog, and Isaac really like him!

This flower bed has been blooming for a couple of months now! Pansies really like the type of weather we have been getting lately --warm days and cool nights!
Our front yard with pansies and cyclamen growing in the circle flower bed.

I have two planter pots in the very front of the house near where we park our cars. We just put some new plants in them!

Roses!

Jason and I recently had our 5-year wedding anniversary! Instead of getting me flowers in a vase, Jason found three GORGEOUS rose bushes that I consider his gifts of "flowers for our anniversary"! This one is so unique and so beautiful! It contains roses of various colors and shades of pink, white, coral, peach, etc!
This is still the same rose bush as above!
Still the same one! Can you believe all the blooms and all the color variations?!!!! It is really beautiful! It is a climbing rose, so that is why the blooms are kind of drooping. We will be putting up some climbing material for them to grow on.

This rose, below, is one of the other beautiful rose bushes Jason bought! It doesn't have very many blooms currently, but there are a number of buds on it waiting to bloom!

GORGEOUS!! I love these rose bushes so much! Thank you, Jason!!

Sweeping

Isaac was so interested in the broom I was using to sweep the kitchen floor! He grabbed it as soon as I took my hand off it!
Hmmmm?!! How does this thing work? He'll be my big helper when he gets a little bigger.
The broom became boring, so he decided to try to stretch and reach his crackers! Isaac knows that I keep his cereal and crackers at this spot on the kitchen counter! The crackers had been put out of reach, but I think that is what he was going for!
He's getting so tall! I have to watch him around the stove, because he can reach up to where the burners become very hot when I'm cooking! He can't see up there, yet, but his little fingers can feel around to grab things off the counters!

Hiking

We had a lovely picnic lunch at the park the other day! It was perfect weather, and we actually found a shady spot to set up our food and eat! Isaac ate some yummy sweet potatoes!

Isaac kept reaching for my sunglasses, so I decided to let him try them on! He didn't keep them on too long, but I managed to snap a quick photo!
Isaac enjoyed taking his first hike, well first hike during which he actually walked most of the way!

He really like being able to walk. He wanted to go to each side of the trail and check out the forest! We had to keep steering him back onto the trail so that he didn't get into poison ivy or thorns and sharp branches.
Isaac even wanted to test out Jason's hiking pole!
For a little while Mommy carried Isaac around in the front carrier!
