Merry Christmas at Our House

At Christmas, we usually fly up to Kentucky to spend the holiday with Debbie's parents, and her brother and his wife also usually come down from Maine to visit. However, this year we were blessed to have Jason's parents come to visit us here in Texas over the Christmas holidays! With my brother and his wife due to have their baby girl on December 29, and us awaiting our baby boy's arrival on January 21, traveling by plane was not an option. We missed seeing Debbie's side of the family, but will look forward to visits with the new babies in the near future! We had such a great time visiting with Jason's parents, and really, really appreciated their help with getting our nursery ready for our baby boy!! They helped move the heavy furniture from the living room--where it had been delivered earlier in December--into the nursery. They helped clean up the closet and assemble the crib and move some other pieces of furniture around the house to accommodate the new nursery space. The nursery space had been used as a storage area, and so there were a wide variety of odds and ends in there... We could not have gotten everything situated without their help!! It was perfect timing too, because Jason had just finished painting the nursery! We didn't do a lot of gifts this year, because we are all just so excited about the new "gift" of our baby boy! We did enjoy a wonderful Christmas dinner together, and spent the afternoon feeding the ducks and taking a walk at a park nearby.
We had fresh greens from Jason's grandparent's garden as well as sweet potatoes from their garden. We enjoyed vegetarian turkey and stuffing casserole, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, whole wheat rolls, and raspberry lemonade. For dessert, I served Blackberry Cobbler with vanilla ice cream! YUMMY!
Here's a photo of Jason and me in front of our Christmas tree! I am 36 weeks pregnant!

The decorations taper off a little at the bottom...that's because we have four cats and have to be cautious about what we hang toward the bottom! It was sooo much fun to decorate the tree this year! Can hardly wait for next year, when we'll have a little "helper" to help decorate for Christmas!
