Big helper

We moved some furniture around to clean underneath it, and Isaac decided to help! He grabbed a part of the vacuum that we weren't using, and started moving it around just like his Daddy!
They worked together to get all the dirt and dust under and around the couch!
Isaac was our big helper!! He really likes to help hand me things when I'm unloading the dish washer or folding clothes! As he grows bigger, I hope he will continue to have a desire to help out!

Father's Day!

Happy Father's day to my wonderful husband! He is such a great Daddy to Isaac! I got Jason this mini-basketball goal for Father's day so that he and Isaac could play with it together! Isaac loves it, and Daddy loves teaching him how to play basketball!

On Father's day, me and Isaac took Jason to Moody Gardens down in Galveston! They have just remodeled the rain forest exhibit, so we wanted to go check that out. We also went to the aquarium they have down there, which Isaac LOVES!

If there are buttons to push, Isaac will find them! These buttons made various bird noises.
There were very tame butterflies fluttering around the rain forest exhibit. Isaac is really fascinated by butterflies, so this was very exciting for him!

One butterfly landed on my bag!

I wasn't sure what shirt Jason was going to wear, but when I needed to change Isaac's shirt after a messy lunch, I put this blue and green "baseball" style shirt on him. I took him into our room and closet where Jason had just finished getting dressed, and he also had on a green and dark grey shirt baseball style shirt! They matched, kind of! I also accidentally matched Isaac and I on mother's day, kind of...because we were both wearing red/orange and white striped shirts! I like it when Jason and Isaac match, especially for church! I think it's really cute and fun!

Sleepy times

Isaac fell asleep with his legs hanging outside of the crib! He had been kind of restless, and so we thought we had better check on him. We tip-toed into his room and he was breathing very deeply and sound asleep. I couldn't believe he had fallen asleep in this position!
We actually had to twist him around to help him get his leg out from between the crib slats. I'm sure it didn't hurt sliding into that position, but getting back out when he had just awakened, was a little tricky. Thankfully, he hasn't done this again! Silly boy!

Yahoo Falls

While visiting Debbie's family in Kentucky, we took a day trip to Yahoo Falls! This is the tallest falls in Kentucky! Isaac rode on his Daddy's back for a little while, but most of the time he wanted to walk. The trail was a little steep in some areas, so we had to hold his hand the entire time.

There's my Mom and Dad (Grandma and Pop Pop) walking under a really huge rock formation along the trail.
Jason and Isaac walked a little ahead. I was in the middle! Isaac loves hiking!
Yahoo Falls is behind us. It is not a roaring, gushing falls, but there was a good stream pouring over. You can see how tiny the people at the base of the falls are, to get an idea of how huge the cavern behind the falls is. It is amazing to look under this huge rock outcropping and see the water coming over the edge from way up high!
Here is a photo looking out across the cavern. Jason and Isaac are the tiny people on the far left of the photo. They were walking around under the falls and down to the other side of the cavern.
Now, you can see how tiny Jason and Isaac are at the base of the falls! It's a really huge area where you can walk around behind the falls, and it seems like the water is just falling out of the sky practically! We really enjoyed hiking around the falls and walking above it, and behind it!
Isaac likes to try to walk with Jason's hiking pole. Jason can collapse it to be more Isaac's size, and then Isaac tries to walk with it just like he has watched his Daddy walk with it! It's so cute! He's such a little hiker!

Cumberland Falls

Grandma and Pop Pop take a turn with the stroller!
Isaac enjoys his new umbrella stroller! It's so convenient and light to carry!
There was a lot of rain recently in Kentucky, so Cumberland Falls was really gushing and roaring! It was very muddy looking, too!
Me and my Mom with Isaac! It was fun walking around Cumberland Falls!
Left to right: Isaac, Jason, me, Pop Pop, and Grandma! Cumberland falls are in the background, but we are mostly blocking the view! Oh, well! It's a nice family photo! Wish my brother and his wife and baby could be in the photo, too!
This was a fun photo of Isaac with his Daddy! You can actually see the falls stirring up a lot of mist and churning the water below! It was a beautiful day to see the falls!

Mom and Dad's garden

This is the lower terraced area, and the other section of the garden is above this plot. In this photo you can see green beans that they are training to grow along this piece of fencing. Plus, there are some tomato plants and I think squash and zucchini in this area.
My Dad has really been enjoying gardening over the past few years! There was a time that this land had become over grown, but with the help of our Mennonite friends who tilled it all up with their tractor and bush-hog, it is not a great place for growing vegetables again! They used to plant a garden up here when I was really little, but then stopped for a little while because I guess life got kind of busy with us two kids! Now, in their retirement my parents are enjoying the fruits of their labor in the garden once again! It's great exercise, too!
On the way up to the garden plots, Isaac enjoyed looking at some pretty wild daisies!
Cabbages!
My Mom is going to see Buddy, their pet kitty, who also enjoys playing in the garden!
Cauliflower!
Here you can see the potatoes and lettuce they are growing, some broccoli, and in the distance are some green beans and a couple other varieties of vegetables.
Purple cabbage and potatoes . . . and Swiss chard, which was struggling a little . . .
This is one of the two plots of land they grow their garden on. The other plot of land is just below this one, separated by a strip of brush and small trees. It is set up kind of like two sections of a terraced hillside.

Around home

We went home to Kentucky for Memorial day weekend, and had a great time with Grandma and Pop Pop! We took some refreshing walks in the park, and let Isaac ride in the swings and go down the slide.
We stopped by the hospital where my parents worked for more than 30 years, and where I was born! We saw this beautiful painting of Granny Christine caring for a patient. She is very much appreciated for all the many years of service she gave to patients in the hospital and all the prayers she offered on their behalf. She is honored and recognized by this beautiful painting in the lobby at the main entrance of the hospital.
Here is my parent's adorable kitty cat, Buddy!
We really enjoyed spending time at the park!
Isaac loves to be up-side-down! He just laughs and giggles and begs for more!

Everything was so green around the park and around home! We really enjoyed seeing the lush, thick grass and all the crisp, green trees! Down here where we live, we have been experiencing drought conditions, so there aren't very many plants that are really healthy and green right now. Most plants are still alive, but show the crispy, browned signs of being scorched by 90-100 degree weather and no rain. Not in Kentucky, however, which was really restful for our eyes and just plain beautiful!
Isaac was able to see his Pop Pop's model rail road exhibit for the first time! I think he really liked it, and will continue to be more and more interested in it and excited! He's still a little young to fully understand what he's looking at, but he probably will really love it next time we visit up there.

Isaac with Great Aunt Erika!
Playing with kitty cat Buddy! She is very playful!

Visiting Granny Christine and Aunt Carol! They are our adopted family and we love them very much!
